    Meet Athlete Marcus Tamkee

Since he was two years old, Special Olympics BC – Richmond athlete Marcus Tamkee has been shining in Special Olympics BC programs.

He began his journey in the Active Start program, where he learned vital sport and social skills and built his confidence with the help of his dedicated volunteer coaches.

“Marcus started off very timid and shy, and took a lot of coaxing to try many of the activities. Throughout the years, we've seen his confidence grow, his coordination get better, and become more social in these programs,” says his mother Grace Tamkee.

Empowered with the abilities and community he developed in Active Start, Tamkee went on to succeed in the Special Olympics BC FUNdamentals program as well as track and field and soccer.

Special Olympics is very important for the community. Everyone needs to feel loved and accepted, and that gives a venue for all people to feel loved and accepted.
