New Volunteer Onboarding

Are you a new volunteer who has already registered with your local Special Olympics program? A warm welcome and thank you!

Step Two: Complete Your Special Olympics Canada Volunteer Orientation Course

This interactive online orientation course will offer a thorough and interesting introduction to the world of Special Olympics, enhancing your ability to coach and support the SOBC athletes in your community and help them enrich their lives through sport. New volunteers are required to complete the orientation within 30 days of registering with Special Olympics BC.

Step Three: Complete Your Police Information Check

All Special Olympics BC volunteers must complete a Police Information Check – Vulnerable Screening before beginning any role and interactions with athletes with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

This is one of a number of requirements that Special Olympics BC has in place to ensure we provide the safest possible environment throughout our programs and events. We are committed to safe sport and ensuring the best possible quality and experiences for Special Olympics BC athletes.

After the Special Olympics BC Provincial Office receives the result of your check, staff will update your profile promptly, and then the appropriate contacts will follow up with you about volunteering opportunities. We sincerely thank you for your support to offer empowering sport experiences for athletes with intellectual disabilities!
